Week 1
Goals
Determine a system of communication for meetings and notebook info
Review game rules and understanding of game elements
Determine what we want our robot to do
Determine how we want our robot to accomplish what we want to do
Meeting Notes
Watched kickoff video for new game
Discussed modes of communication such as Discord, Instagram, Google Sites, etc.
Settled on using Google Sites
Discussed how to score points and wrote on whiteboard a list of scoring opportunities.
Discussed playing field and game strategies that we would like to employ.
Voted on Autonomous game mode goals. Our goals are:
Try to score the 20 points by moving to the proper area with a custom beacon (20 points)
Score by moving into a terminal (2 points) as a back-up plan
We are not trying to score on any junctions during autonomous mode
Voted on Teleop game mode goals. Our goals are:
Score as many ground junctions as possible; especially in opposing alliance's area
Score at both terminal locations in the corners
Score on the lowest junction
Use custom Beacon to cap a junction at end-game (preferably a ground junction near the opponent)
Complete a circuit at end-game
Discussed several ways we want to accomplish our goals. These included:
Unanimous approval of Mecaum drive
Using a claw arm to pick up and move cones
Using a "Plow" to push and/or pick up cones
Using a linear slide mechanism to lift cones
Using a wedge underneath cones to lift (similar to a fork-lift)
Using a combination of a "Plow" and wedge
Using a combination of a claw arm and plow
Voted and concluded to use the following:
smallest Mechanum drive-train we can build
use a "Plow" arm to push cones around the playfield
Eventually upgrade the plow to:
Grip a cone
Raise a cone to the low-level height
Will use Go-Bilda parts for robot chassis & components
